Silence is golden… until you’re a blogger who disappears for nearly two months with absolutely no explanation.  I’ve been silent for quiet a while, I took the time to recover from getting sick and  then thoroughly enjoyed a month of spiritual cleansing during our fasting months and until today I haven’t really been able to muster up any motivation to sit and blog.

However, this  is definitely an exciting way to come back. I’ve been nominated for “The Black Cat. Blue Sea Award” by the amazing Jumibum. I am extremely honoured that she believes, I not only fit the criteria for the award but that I’ve touched her enough to be nominated.

Let’s get into discussing the award and away from my babbling.

The Black Cat Blue Sea Award is for bloggers who strive to write for everybody, and no matter how many viewers they get make an impact on a reader. This award is an expression of gratitude to the nominee. It should be awarded to anybody that you choose deserves it and it doesn’t mean that they must have hundreds of followers and likes.

Being nominated warmed my heart and helped me get back on my feet and pick up my metaphorical pen. It proved that I’ve earned my place  and successfully achieved my goals as a writer. I write with the intention of using my experiences to either make my readers smile, reflect or realise they aren’t alone.

Now to the rules of the award :

  1. Anybody nominated can nominate up to seven other bloggers.
  2. Anybody nominated answers three questions. The questions you ask while nominating can be any three questions. If any of the questions asked are offending or simply do not want to be answered, the nominee does not have to answer them to earn the award.

My three questions to answer:

1)   When writing or drafting a blog post what message do you try to convey to your readers?

When writing my blogs I don’t usually sit with a firm topic or idea in mind. I just start writing with a vague idea of what I want to talk about and let the post form itself. I try to keep it open ended and leave the reader to draw a conclusion  that is most relevant to the individual. I suppose in a way my posts could be about anything but the content and discussion needs to reverberate in the readers mind. I like to pose a lot of questions and dilemmas. But most of all, I vent and reason my way through my posts and hope that maybe just maybe my insanity holds a grain of truth and logic that strikes the right chords.

2)   What is your main source of inspiration when writing a blog post?

Life. Every day holds something mind boggling,  beautiful or simply strange. The smallest moments have the potential triggers the creative in me and (where some may get an Adrenalin rush)  I often experience a rush of words demanding to be written down and shared.

3)   What is your greatest strength and your gravest weakness

My greatest strength is my empathetic nature which  usually allows me to  argue two sides of the same coin and be as  diplomatic and logical  as possible (until my sister or mum argues with me)….. But that brings me  to my greatest weakness. I hate feeling frustrated or boxed in and usually I get to a point where I’m so angry I end up a blubbering ball of tears. Rather unhelpful in the middle of intense arguments.

My nominees are:

  1. Paradox Personality
  2. Ramblings
  3. Sparrow Poet

My questions are:

  • What are your tips to overcome writers block?
  • Where do you draw inspiration from?
  • What is the most important element  in your writing?
