“The problem with losing your anonymity is that you can never go back…” ~ Maria Maples

Even now, as I sit at my desk typing this message, I feel my throat closing as anxiety and fear meld into a thrilling combination touched with a slight bit of anticipation. For a while, I have been toying with the idea of revealing my identity .

As most of you are aware this blog is mostly my journey and thoughts on every thing and anything. In the interest of building the blog, I wanted to introduce a number of ideas that would require me to reveal my identity and feature in the photos etc that I use in the blog.

Since I am probably the most indecisive and conflicted human when it comes to things like this, I figured I probably need assistance making this decision. Considering that the blog has recently hit 100 followers, I decided that the only logical way to properly decide is to ask the people this would affect. So, without further faffing and babbling from me, I am asking you (as my main reason for keeping this blog going), What do you think?

Do you want to know who I am or do you want me to remain anonymous?

Love Always,

  1. Two things to consider: many of the people who like our blogs are not necessarily following us, and considering some people like our blogs are not even reading them. I use my real name because I already had a small photography business and had used my name on that site and the site for my photos. You need to consider the level of safety in your world. Is you address easily found? Do you live by yourself? (I live in a locked building condominium. No one should be able to figure out which one I live in from the outside. I made it a point to introduce my sons and friends to those who might see them coming into the building if they by some chance got a key.) Do you live in a high crime area?
Your degree of safety and privacy are only known to you. I am a 64 year old woman. You sound and appear to be a young woman. Be careful, and evaluate your own situation. Telling people your name should not make much difference as to whether they follow you or not. But if you are in high school or college or a high crime area, it might be the worst thing you could do. Hugs!

    1. Thank you so much. I hadn’t taken those into much consideration and definitely need to reevaluate some of those

  2. From my perspective, it’s hard to see what difference it makes to me, whether I know you by a pseudonym or by name.
I think the difference to you could be much bigger.

    1. 💭 I think you may be right…. Although, h I know a few people have emailed or hunted me down on social media demanding an answer😂 I suppose a mystery must be solved for some…

  3. What right have they to demand something from you? It sounds like very trollish behaviour, and it does not seem advisable to let such people know your name or any personal details.

    1. Some I found strange and immediately blocked off social media etc. Others were just genuinely intrigued. Not pushy or scary. Just wanting to know the person who wrote the stuff they enjoyed writing ☺ but I think I’ve devised a good plan for the future and any reveal I may do. Thank you so much for helping me think this whole process out loud. Truly appreciate it and definitely needed it

  5. I’m happy to know as much or as little you care to share. It’s like gifting me with something near and dear about you. Only give it from your heart and it will be received as such. Highest and best!

  6. Yes! I often change little details in blog as it’s surprising how much personal information you can let slip over a series of blogs! Thanks for sharing x

    1. That’s part of my dilemma, I think. Ive started feeling more and more that my readers are close enough to be considered friends or at least good acquaintances and in some way already know me better than some who meet me every day.
