My first venture into Korean beauty was with the brand Charmzone and from the day I first used their samples to now (three years later) I have never looked back. The brand completely transformed my skin from problematic to having only the occasional break out.

So today, I thought it fitting that I review my favourite winter time mask from Charmzone: Sea Kelp Mineral Pack (Wash-Off Type)

This mineral pack comes in both a wash off type and a peel off type. I have not tried the peel off type yet but will definitely be doing so in the future (so if you’re looking for a good peel off mask that review will be coming soon.) The Wash-Off Type retails for about $22.00 on Amazon and (for the Johannesburg Beauties out there) I know The Face Shop in Bruma stocks Charmzone.

Now to the review:

Packaging:

It comes in a white and yellow plastic tube with a relatively solid plastic lid that clips closed which I personally really like because it stays sealed and mess free. The packaging is relatively simple and elegant but not very high end in feeling. So I think a fair rating would be three out of five for packaging.

Product Ingredients & Claims:

The product boasts that it contains all natural ingredients from the sea including Dasima (according to my research is dried kelp). The website states that the product is packed with 300mg of sea kelp extracts and the product aims to cleanse and revitalise the skin. On the back of the bottle it states that the pack contains a variety of ocean ingredients that help minerals to penetrate the skin and bring back resilience to dry or lifeless skin. It claims to remove unwanted oil, makeup and flaking skin to create clear and transparent skin. The final claim is that the product creates the perfect balance of oil and moisture on the skin to maintain smooth and healthy looking skin. Since the product is all natural and packed with ingredients that are healthy and mineral infused I give the ingredients five out five stars.

Instructions to Use Product:

This product is very basic to use and contains only two instructions of use.

The tube also advises:

  1. Cover entire face starting from the cheeks then the chin, nose and lastly the forehead. Wait till completely dry then rinse off with lukewarm water.
  2.  Can be used on the entire body after a shower for silky smooth skin.

First Impressions:

The first time I opened the tube I was hit with a fresh spa-like scent and then I exclaimed that it looks like fresh sea weed mud. The mask is a pale green clay colour and felt cooling as I applied it to my face. The product is really thick and creates an even, relatively thick layer on the skin in one application. I was stunned by how little I needed to cover my entire face. It dries much quicker than expected and washed out quite easily. My skin visibly looked brighter and felt extremely supple and smooth.

Results and Final Conclusion:

My skin over the next few days felt moisturized and looked great. Makeup (especially my foundation) looked gorgeous on my skin and I was super impressed with how long the results of the mask lasted. I reapplied after about a week and a half and have been using the mask approximately once a week now and do not feel the need to use it more often. I am sometimes able to go almost two weeks before my skin feels dry or flaky again. I definitely recommend this mask to anyone feeling dry this winter.

Overall, I give this a 5/5.

If you have any masks you want me to try out or any recommendations, please leave them in the comment section and I’ll try my best to get my hands on them.

Feeling Glowy,

Brokebella.
