Have you ever met someone and instantly had a million things to talk about and you could go on and on for hours sharing random, completely unnecessary information with each other? Now take that and multiply it by… Oh, I don’t know ,let’s say sixty people thrown together in a random, unstructured and uncontrolled group on any social media platform..The information over load is incredible.
It’s pure, complete, unadulterated choas.
It’s beautiful.
Now I know you’re probably thinking I’m either exaggerating or losing my mind if I find total chaos beautiful but the poetry of the whole experience can not be ignored.
Think about it, Sixty people, each with their own little piece of history, tossed together like particles in a sandstorm; each fighting for their place while working together to create a terrifying force.
Each with a unique view point. A unique style. A unique shape. Each with scars and bruises and little hints of places they’ve past.
Maybe it’s just me, and my weird obsession with figuring out how people tick, that finds it beautiful. I find myself sitting back and watching the storm unfold with eager eyes and a yearning soul. It’s like soul searching without having to make a trip to the forgotten ruins of a long lost city somewhere in the Himalayas.
You learn little bits about yourself simply from watching the rest of the people. You suddenly realise you enjoy the way some people always types out full grammatically correct sentences but catch yourself using the slang of another. You always look forward to a comment from that girl who always uses the “wtf” emoji before her sentences because that’s exactly what you were thinking. Sometimes, when you least expect it, you meet a soul whose bumps and bruises echos your own and for some reason this random person from a busy group chat becomes someone you turn to for strength.
Something about the group atmosphere comforts you. As the days go on and the group becomes a part of your daily life, you realise that you turn to them for reprieve from the pain and confusion of the day. You learn that these random numbers are now people. People you care about. People who have your back. People who you will protect.
This little group chat that started as beautiful chaos is now your calm in the middle of the sandstorm of life…
And so, without further delay, I must return to my calm…
Until next time,
xoxo
